How hot can it become when Petrolux is hung under the ceiling?
We made the temperature measurements (with a surrounding temperature of 23ºC) and here's the results:

The lamp was burning with a strong light. You could just see the top of the flame pop up above the hole in the lamp shade.

In the first experiment the lamp hung directly on the hook in the ceiling (h = 2½ cm):
The temperature at the hook was approx. 70ºC. The most exposed areas of the ceiling were approx. 110ºC.

In the second experiment the lamp hung 16½ cm under the ceiling (h = 16½ cm):
The temperature at the hook approx. 44ºC. On the most exposed areas of the ceiling the temperature was approx. 54ºC.

In the third experiment the lamp hung 30½ cm under the ceiling (h = 30½ cm):
The temperature at the hook is approx. 36ºC. On the most exposed areas of the ceiling the temperature was approx. 41ºC.

Conclusion:
The ceiling does become very hot when the lamp is hanging directly on the ceiling hook (h = 2½ cm). And this will result in discolouring of the ceiling after some time. We cannot recommend hanging the lamp directly under the ceiling!
When the distance is increased to 16½ cm (h = 16½ cm) the temperature falls to an acceptable level. This distance is OK.
In the third experiment all temperatures are around 40ºC. This distance (h = 30½ cm) we can recommend.
